Scott Jennings (aka Lum Lumley in SL) of MMO/virtual world blog Broken Toys just revealed the more interesting Google keyword searches by which people found his blog. Some of my favorites:
- epic mount sex
- how did hitler die
- video of baby jesus crying
- men posing as women in sl
- create false “police record”
- how to get around paying for second life
- second life tentacle sex 2010
I love that "2010" on the last one; because you know, who wants to get examples from 2007? Back then, tentacle sex had weird hairstyles and music. I'll have to put together the many ways Google users find New World Notes, but I can say they're almost as strange as Scott's. In contrast to this frivolity, if you Google "living holocaust survivor" -- surely one of the most serious searches of all -- it's humbling to discover the fifth entry that currently comes up is my profile of Holocaust survivor Fanny Star speaking in Second Life.
I often check my stats solely for this amusing piece of information.
Some recent baffling search terms that have led people to my blog:
"plumber's crack"
"crucified women"
"giant nipples" :-\
"gaaaaaaaa" (nice!)
"a bunch of words"
and my favorite:
"crazy bitch emerald wynn"
Sheeeesh - it reads like the makings of a blue-collar S&M porn site or something.

For those who don't know, "epic mount sex" refers to an ad posted on Craigslist:

(worksafe, despite the URL)

@Emerald, I suspect the final term came from a Prok-o-rama.
After a full-on Prokking of me a while back, I seeded my blog with phrases guaranteed to make the page-one Google searches roll right to my fake door:
"fraud crappy poll"
"shame on you, eternal shame"
"Leninist Edupunk Fraud."

For a really long time the top search that directed people to my blog was, of all things, "cheesy phrases". I have no idea what provoked that, though for a while I wrote an occasional blog post about it which I suppose reinforced it.

It’s fun to read your post. Google search is one of the absolute ways to get your business noticed. And yes, it is called SEO or Search Engine Optimization. It boosts your site’s keywords and profit potentials. This can be compared to CFD trading strategies in CFD trading. Anyways, I’m quite interested with the keywords that are listed in your post. They’re really fun to read.
