About this time last year, I asked readers how much Second Life would grow in terms of monthly active users, and in the survey results, a plurality guessed correctly -- around 800,000, give or take. This year, with the recent arrival of a new marketing VP and a new CEO, how will the numbers change? I put the question to you, oh discerning reader, and the wisdom of the crowd!

is that 800K based on individual IP's logging in, or just accounts? I have about 8 alts, which I know is a wee bit above average, but everyone I know generally has an alt too, so I'm just curious if that would effect the stats at all.
Also, I sort of have a good feeling about the new CEO. I think he's the right guy for the job. If this guy don't work out, I think it's done for.

Seymore, I believe Linden's 800K figure counts unique IP addresses, not avatars.

I have information from a good source, that twelve new people will join Second Life during 2011. Linden Lab research has high hopes the twelve will log into the service a second time, after initially joining.
"We believe there is nothing wrong with using alzheimer's patients to bolster concurrency. The fact that every time they log in is like their first time inside Second Life, is a very big plus in our eyes," a spokesman stated.
