He doesn't enter Linden Lab as the company's new CEO until sometime in the middle of this month, but he's already entered the world he'll soon be in charge of -- behold the avatar profile of Rodvik Linden, the Second Life avatar of ex-Electronic Arts VP, newly appointed Linden CEO Rod Humble. Thanks to the new feature that exposes SL profiles on the web, you can see his profile page here too. Not much to see so far, but that's likely to change soon. (Then again, the question mark seems hella apropos.) Mark Kingdon once told me that as he took the reigns as Linden's CEO a couple years ago, he first logged in-world to find many many notecards waiting for him, long essays and project lists from Residents advising him what to do with Second Life. Likely Humble will be humbled by such a barrage too. Hat tip: Dwell On It

Did they dump him in Waterhead like they did to my alt upon reentry in SL? I'd love to see that. :/

Until mid next month? I thought Humble was starting mid-January? i.e. next week or so.

I believe the account was created for him in advance, but there's no indication that it has actually been used at all. If that changes, of course, I'll post something.

Ezra, you're right, I corrected that, thanks!

That "new" feature has been around for 5 years, ever since the new Search window appeared, and SL started migrating a bit of its architecture to web services.
Maybe they just put a prettier interface around it and started actively promoting it *shrug*

Good to see you've come home to report on Second Life, you had us a bit worried.

Eggy, as far as I understand it they actually moved that to be THE profiles window in the latest dev build of the Viewer 2.x thing.
Like, if you want to open someones profile in the future and your restricted to the official client, I wouldn't be impressed either to be forced to load an embedded browser inside of my client, wait several seconds for the page to load, just to do something that should be EFF, just to open their god damn profile, which with the viewer 2 UI is already bad as you can only do one person at a time practically.
