Sending a hug into Second Life with Kinect
This is big news: Microsoft will soon release an official software developer kit for Kinect, its 3D camera/motion capture system. This makes it more likely that we'll see more Kinect-to-Second Life projects like the one above, by USC's Thai Pan... or another one, that I'm going to blog soon. Update, 3:10PM: Right here!
I can't wait to see the videos on youtube, of people getting caught kinect-pixel-bumping, in their home.

Ah Microsoft finally recognized the inevitable. How long did the first hack take? I recall it as less than a week ...

It seems that I fell asleep in the year 2001 and have awoken in Bizarro World: Microsoft embracing developers and opening their system and Apple tightening the screws on their pet devices....
Right on, Microsoft. You really can "think different."
