Iris Ophelia's ongoing review of virtual world and MMO fashion
Last week I wrote about the Pacific Crisis Fundraiser, but there are many other fashion-related relief efforts springing up in Second Life to benefit victims of the recent Japanese disasters. Today I'm taking a look at another of these events, Help Japan, where 100% of the proceeds are being donated to the Japanese Red Cross. It also has some of my favorite charity items so far!

Now on to my personal picks from the fundraiser:
Runo Runo's Cherry Blossom Petals
I had to lead with this item because it might be one of my favorite releases from the past month. These gorgeously sculpted cherry blossom petals attach to your avatar in clusters, and come with a very dramatic set of poses. Though they may look like flat prims, every petal is sculpted and three dimensional, with their edges painted a very charming shade of pink. This set also comes with a clothing layer of textured petals to make sure that all your sensitive areas are properly covered from every angle, and I was impressed that these layers don't really stand out from the other petals. This is a must-have item for photographers, artists, fashionistas... just about everyone!

BRB.fashion's Save Japan Skirt
I'm a bit of a sucker for a simple skirt, and I love the layers of this one in particular. Though it's not very flashy, if you combine it with the perfect red top it makes an excellent party dress! I've paired mine with the Red Koi Dress by Acid & Mala as well as Tee*fy's super cute polished plastic Help Japan Flower, which can both also be found at the Help Japan event.
Mr.Poet's Shirt and Model Form
I'm secretely a collector of dress forms and mannequins in Second Life. I've got a couple dozen now, and this special one by Mr.Poet is the new gem in my collection. I particularly love the detail of the patchword sun emblem and the needle and thread dangling from it, but if you prefer something a little plainer, a blank version is also included. Mr.Poet also happens to be one of my favourite menswear shops... even though I tend to wear their clothes just as often in my female avatar. So of course I had to pick up this clean-cut shirt and scarf set they're also selling at Help Japan. I'm also wearing in Rin II hairstyle from esk-imo which, you guessed it, is available for purchase at Help Japan.
I've got more amazing fundraisers to share yet, so keep your eyes peeled for more charity shopping posts to come. Until then, be sure to check out this excellent summary of the situation by Catero Revolution for more ways to help Japan and the other affected nations!

Hi, Ophelia!
Probably old news now, but...the link to the "Help Japan" SLurl also has the "Pacific Crisis Fundraiser" SLurl in it, so it is not useable as a SLurl to hop there. That make sense? Hey, wait a sec.. you're not /my/ Ophelia, are you?! I can't find a last name on the blog page here! Hihi, if that is you!! And nice to meet you if it is not. ;)
I picked up a a LOT of great things to "Help Japan!" ^^
