This is a beautifully made mixed reality music video from Tomgirl Euler, a Japanese hiphop artist who performs both in SL and the real world. Love her voice, and the Second Life machinima is incredibly polished, among the best I've seen:
I don't totally follow the plot to "Daijoubu (Everything's Gonna Be Okey)", but the images of death and loss and precious things lost to flood are understandable enough, and due to Japan's recent tragedy, take on an added poignancy. (This video was actually uploaded last September, but I held back on blogging it, as Tomgirl was a semi-finalist in the recent NWN reader poll.) You can, by the way, buy the album for this track from iTunes by clicking here.
Hat tip: Jura Shepherd.
"and due to Japan's recent tragedy, take on an added poignancy."
The tragedy is not recent, only the quake/tsunami part is. There is an ongoing crisis in the NE rescuing people & supplying evac centres (I hesitate to use the words humanitarian crisis in a developed country, but it's as close as you can get) combined with a very risky & dynamic situation at Fukushima Nuclear plant, and is a long way from being over.
Just because it's been downgraded by the Mainstream Media (who focused mainly on scaring people with nuclear disaster stories) to column 5 in order to make way for Libyan warporn does not mean it's over.
Ganbaru Japan!.
