I'm imminently stoked to announce that New World Notes is expanding its coverage of Second Life-based art, music, machinima, and performance with a new column: Second Life Arts and Entertainment, or SLANE for short. Written by a number of Second Life's top artists, SLANE will be a casual journal of cool and beautiful content in SL, led by Ms. ColeMarie Soleil, who already covers the arts for NWN with Coley's World. She's now created an open in-world group, Just Art, and assembled an elite squad of contributors. Pictured above from left to right, top row first, they include:
- Oberon Onmura - Arts reporter
- Rayray Shippe - Fashion and Location photography
- Persia Bravin - Arts/music/machinima/events reporter
- Bryn Oh - Arts/events reporter
- Hybie Mynx - Location writer and photographer
- Douglas Story - Arts reporter
- Groll Greggan - Location photographer
- Colemarie Soleil - Photographer and location/machinima/music/events reporter
- Annough Lykin - Fashion and location photographer
- Nicolette Marx - Fashion and location photographer
Look for their entries on New World Notes soon (hopefully next week.) Right now, click here to join their in-world group, Just Art. And to anticipate some possible questions: Yes, Coley's World will still continue (when Ms. Soleil has time in her crowded creative schedule), and yes, I'll still be writing about Second Life machinima, since that's just about my favorite thing to do on this blog. So look for New World Notes to note new world art even more, and soon.
YAY!

Hamlet, are you sure that you listed the names in the photos clockwise? I realize SL names can be ambiguous, but it looks more like the names are left to right in both rows. Or am I completely off base?

Thumbs up from edu-land. Arts are a killer app in virtual worlds. Glad to see more coverage.

Will any of the writers listed above be compiling events listings a la Chestnut's Choices?
