Quanah is a New York indie musician who's going to start performing in SL this Friday (details below), and insiders hint that he's going to be the biggest breakout pop star to play in SL since Sean "Skye Galaxy" Ryan hit the metaverse. Here's a sample:
As longtime SL performer ColeMarie Soleil says (and she should know), his voice evokes Death Cab for Cutie's Ben Gibbard a touch, but I think he brings his own style of raspy, plaintive phrasing.
He's performing in Second Life, Quanah tells me, at the behest of producer/manager Kalli Birman, another leading light in SL's music scene:
"I got the idea of performing in SL from Kalli Birman (Brandy Maltas IRL)," says Quanah. "She got a hold of me through Youtube and asked me if I'd be interested in playing shows in SL. I really feel like virtual worlds are the future of many things, so I was more then willing to get into it." ("Quanahmusic" is also his SL account name.)
See for yourself: Join his in-world group "Quanah Music", and if you can, catch his debut in SL at Club Graffiti in The Village on August 12 at 2pm SLT. [Direct teleport at this link]
UPDATED 8/11: Corrected Quanah's SL name, it's "quanahmusic", and Kalli Birman/Brandy Maltas' SL/RL names.
