Nexus Burbclave just announced "The Mainland Renaissance Project" on his blog: As the name suggests, the aim is to highlight beautiful builds on the Second Life mainland, mainly by posting screenshots of them on this Koinup photo page. "Lets not mince words," he writes, "there are lots of abandoned land and ban lines as far as the eye can see in much of the mainland... [But t]he mainland still has a lot going on that is worth sharing, promoting, and growing." I agree on both counts. Go here to read more, and submit your mainland photos here.
I found this link, by the way, on Reddit's Second Life community. Seen another cool SL blog post (including yours) lately? Be sure to submit it here!

This is great. Always thought the mainland was under appreciated.

Thank you for the plug Hamlet. I've already gotten some really cool submissions over on Koinup. I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone turns up.

I encourage this project. However, a digression: if there is much abandoned land on the Mainland, is there any chance of the Governor "seizing it back," clearing it and encouraging some virtual "renewal"?
