Chouchou, the acclaimed SL-only pop group, has a new concept album coming out this weekend, called theme01 Niraikanai, and it sounds great. Here's a beautiful machinima by Takutada showcasing some of the combo's new tracks:
I especially like the track excerpt that hits at 1:10 -- sort of Cibo Matto-esque, spiked with koto strings. That last part, at least, is intentional, because the Japan-based duo is attempting to integrate their unique sound with traditional Japanese music elements:
"The music style of Chouchou has been very far from traditional Japanese music, and we won't make it shift to that direction after this," singer juliet Heberle tells me, "but the part of us has always been attracted with the beauty of Japanese traditions even though they are something we cannot normally see anymore in our daily lives. For us, it's like a river flowing at the deep bottom. It's always there, inside of us. And we wanted to see a chemical reaction produced when the Japanese traditional sounds was fused with Chouchou."
Get the album here on December 17, and on iTunes shortly after. Follow them on Facebook here, and on Twitter here.
