Snap decision: Which of these photos above is a photo of a real life photographic studio, and which is a screen capture from Second Life, depicting mesh-based objects that only look like a photographic studio? Don't think about that question too deeply, because in normal circumstances, you likely wouldn't.
The answer: Let Ms. Brie Wonder show you, for she it was who took one of them. (And took it well she did, yes.) The other photo is from Trusted Reviews, though after this, I'm guessing there's half a chance you won't trust that either.
The left looks due its shadows to me as from RL,
for the same reason the right looks due its shadows as from SL to me,
Both are damn good and might be possible to do in SL.

Yep... the photo on the left appears to be real. It's funny though, to expect folk to judge by posting these images at such a small, almost "thumbnail" size.

Oh! *blush... thank you... yeah, I have a studio that looks halfway professional now...

The one on the right is obviously the one from SL, due to the unusual focal length, the coarse shadow effects and the strong contrasts on the texturing.

Is actually pretty obvious -IF- you're used to looking at 3D art. But the SL one is still very well rendered. With the right graphics settings, SL is almost hitting Poser standards. Now if it can hit Vue or Lightwave rendering standards, in real-time, you'll be flooring me.
