Iris Ophelia's ongoing review of virtual world and MMO fashion
Yesterday, the latest round of themed designs were released at Collabor88 [Click here to teleport to Collabor88 in TAILS], and it was love at first sight. If you're unfamiliar, Collabor88 is a collaborative effort from a large group of SL designers who release exclusive themed items (ranging from furniture to clothing to poses) for L$8, L$88, or L$888 on the 8th of every month.
This month's release revolves around literature, and even though my inner English major was fully prepared to geek out, it was this Valentine-themed lingerie ensemble I ended up settling on. Although I may be single, I still have a weakness for the romantic aesthetic that wafts through RL and SL fashion at this time of year.
So here's the full breakdown of this sweet and sexy look:
Tess Underthings, by Dakota Buck of Whippet & Buck
This bra and panty set are perfectly named after Thomas Hardy's Tess of the D'Urbervilles, a story of a sheltered ingenue's climb and fall in society, not to mention her seduction. Whippet & Buck is often my go-to brand for super feminine separates, so their underwear set for Collabor88 (available in a half dozen different colours) is easily one of my favourite releases from this cycle. Ruffles, lace, and all things girly are intensely popular right now, and thankfully this trend has helped break up the monotonously tarty lingerie that's plagued SL for ages.
I'm also wearing the latest mesh hair from elikatira, named Abbey [Click here to teleport to elikatira]. This style isn't from Collabor88, but I couldn't resist this softly swept-back locks. This style is just dreamy, and the fly-away peices and modestly elegant colour-changing ribbon reminded me of Tess too much to ignore.
Miss Havisham's Broken Heart, by Polyester Partridge of Yummy
Like Whippet & Buck, Yummy has become another of my major go-to brands for Polyester's unique antiqued metal textures and intricately detailed charms. Maybe Great Expectations' Miss Havisham isn't the best name to invoke this close to Valentines Day, but what can I say? I'm a sucker for classic cameos (and crazy spinsters!)
Gatsby Heels, by Betty Doyle of Ingenue
A lot of the Collabor88 designers seem to have a thing for The Great Gatsby, but I doubt anyone could blame them. These strappy heels may be precariously high for someone attending one of Gatsby's get-togethers, but the vintage-inspired details make this modern shoe the best of both worlds.
Don't miss your chance to grab these items (and plenty of others) at this month's Collabor88! [Click here to teleport to Collabor88 in TAILS]
