My Pinterest account now has about 50 followers, even though I barely use it (because frankly, I still don't quite get how to use it), but despite Pinterest being the new Internet hotness, supposedly generating more traffic than Twitter, and there's an official Second Life Pinterest account, here's something I'm also not getting: Pinterest pageviews. Maybe a handful a day, dwarfed in comparison with, for example, clickthroughs from Plurk. But maybe that's my fault. Pinterest is much more visually-oriented than other social media sites, which may mean, outside Iris' great virtual fashion posts, New World Notes is just less Pinterest-able. So let me put the question the thousands of SL fashion bloggers -- how important is Pinterest to your pageviews?

Pintrest accounts have to be linked to Facespam or Twithead accounts.
In other words, they require a meat-ID...
So no surprise many SLers have avoided it.

I rather like it but yes it is a visual medium.
But I still pin my blogs there as well as snapshots, links to stories interesting for our community, etc.
I started not that long ago and have 17 followers now.
But for me it is also just nice to have a collection of pictures and links collected in this way.

I've just started up, and it's impossible to tell yet what effect Pinterest will have. But it's kind of fun to stack the stuff up and see what comes of it.

I talked about this on this week's MetaReality Podcast. I have seen a huge surge in even old posts that I added to Pinterest! But as always there is some strategy involved. As you point out, Pinterest is very visual, so that's the first and most important place to start. Then, at least for now, you have to think about a larger audience. Hamlet, you post a ton of interesting things that extend further than just the SL bubble. In the podcast I talk about a post you did on the app Zombies, Run. I think that kind of stuff would do very well on Pinterest, especially once the app is available. Lots of people have apps or cool tech boards.
Anyway.. if you get a chance check out this week's show. I'd love to know your thoughts.
