Though it may not seem like it at first (or even second), the footage for this visually arresting music video for rising ambient star Owsey was actually shot in Second Life. And the fragile voice singing through the layers of dream syncopation also has an SL background. Listen, watch:
As you probably guessed already, the singer is ColeMarie Soleil, a longtime SL performer who also blogged about SL arts and culture for New World Notes for a time. Now she's not only collaborating with Owsey (who according to his Facebook page, is currently signed with Warner Brothers), but creating some of his music videos, like this one. And yes, the footage was captured in SL, Coley tells me, but then put through heavy post-processing:
"That was all edited in Adobe After Effects using blending techniques and shot with the Space Navigator," Coley tells me. "Owsey and I officially collaborated a few times now that's just one of three songs I did with him. They are all availiable via Soundcloud free."
Here's another Owsey video with some SL trimmings:
So if you were wondering what Ms. Soleil has been doing lately, now you know. And seeing she's singing with emerging artists like Owsey, I have a sense we may hear even more news from her soon.
Highly formulaic, but then, so is twelve-bar blues and sonata allegro form. It's a very pleasant listen. Thanks, and good luck to Owsey and ColeMarie

CoMa consistently posts songs and projects with some very respectable talented people on her facebook: https://www.facebook.com/OfficialCoMa Would not surprise me to see her signed very soon. One can only hope!
