Linden Lab recently trademarked "dio" for a product that's "computer game software", Tateru Nino reveals, which seems to refer to a new (and closed) Linden Lab site, Inara Pey blogs, which says “Dio allows you to create and play user-created stories", and thus sounds for all the world like the text adventure game Emily Short is making for Linden Lab. Which doesn't necessarily tells us anything beyond the upcoming game's apparent name; but then, that's a good excuse as any (and when it comes to Dio, do you really need a reason?) to post this video:
So it's unclear as yet how users will be able to create and share stories on Dio, but I sure as hell hope some of them are like this video by Dio. (Broadswords! Rats! Big hair blowing in the heavy metal wind!) Botgirl Questi has some tongue-in-cheek parody on this tip.
If you know what you are doing you can login and try it out Hamlet - in a way it is what was to be expected. I think this could either be a surprise hit or a complete flop, but good luck to LL.

O dio mio, when will you guys ever learn that the lightweight Dio was active in the genre of hard rock, not heavy metal?
/me walks away, shaking her head, grumbling "Noobs, stupid youngsters ..." in her non-existing goatee.

Ahaha, Orca, he was more or less before my time, yes, but Wikipedia does say "Ronald James Padavona (July 10, 1942 – May 16, 2010), better known as Ronnie James Dio, was an American rock and heavy metal vocalist and songwriter. He performed with, amongst others, Elf, Rainbow [METAL!], Black Sabbath [HELLA METAL!], Heaven & Hell, and his own band Dio [METAL AS A MOFO!]."

Rainbow: more or less the follow up of Deep Purple = hard rock
Black Sabbath = first wave of british hard rock
Actually Heavy Metal is a kid of the 80s, while most of the bands Dio sang with were 70s, which means still blues and psycedelic hippie influenced hard rock. The borders are not well-defined, we're entering a grey zone with all those bands, but Dio as a singer clearly was too soft and melodic and missed the attitude for real HM.
