I love Carrie Lexington's photo spread from her journey through the beautifully wrought desert-themed roleplay Kingdom of Sand, which I believe is an Adult-themed sim, though Ms. Lexington doesn't mention this point. Which suggests two related points: Whatever you think of their specific kind of roleplay, the Adult-oriented roleplayers of SL have created some of the world's most vividly realized environments. And you can visit and photograph them like Lexington did, whether or not you're part of that scene.

"which I believe is a Gorean-themed sim"
It's not Gor. And it's probably Kora and Baal's oldest still-there sims, though Midian is still running and Baal did the build for that without owning it.
All of Kora and Baal's sims are beautiful though, and all original in story/setting as far as I know even if they resemble other things.

Doh, looks like you're right, so I changed "Gor" to "Adult-themed".

My biggest problem with every single one of these adult RP environments that I've found so far is they all feature as a major theme the disempowerment of women.
There's always some kind of slave theme, targeted against women, and almost always some connection between lack of power and lack of outfits.
Gor is the extreme where females are either in burqas and free or sans-clothes and slaves. But the trendline of that has been present everywhere I've managed to find so far.
So I wonder, is this one following that trend or an exception?

I'm glad you like my pictures Hamlet, and thanks for linking to my blog.
I admit, I wrote that post quite hastily and failed to mention the Adult theme of the sim. This is a good reminder for me to pay more attention to such details next time I blog a SL destination.
I agree, the roleplay environments I have visited are the most detailed and immersive I have seen. I always enjoy exploring such places. I have seen some places that are quite violent and disempowering to women and humanity in general. I didn't get that impression at all from Kingdom of Sand.

This sim is a great place for female avatars on second life. They can play any part they wish... from strong dominate types who capture slaves... to slaves themselves. I've seen women avy's run around in all types of outfits... in silks and in lush gowns of the Arabian Knight's theme.
