Prince, Green Day, Grandmaster Flash -- legendary musicians like them have performed at San Francisco's DNA Lounge, and come this weekend, they're joined by another star: Keiko Takamura! Sunday night, August 26th, the singer who got her start performing in Second Life is performing there with Crashfaster, which is the start of the band's West Coast tour -- click here for the DNA Lounge details and to get a pre-order ticket discount.
Crashfaster specializes in videogame-themed chiptune/indie pop, and while Keiko's real name is Amy English, she's notably listed on the group's Facebook page by her SL avatar name, which has also become her real life stage name.
"I was a fan of Crashfaster before I started performing with them," Keiko tells me.
"I caught them at a show where they announced their singer was leaving. Right after their set, I pretty much cornered the frontman and offered to sing for them." After checking out her music, she got the gig, and has been perfoming with them since -- that's her above, at a previous DNA Lounge show.
Here's a listen to their music, which you can also buy on Bandcamp. Follow the band on Facebook or their Twitter account for tour announcements.
