Happy Thanksgiving, NWN readers! I just enjoyed a Thanksgiving dinner in Beijing with several American expatriates at a vegan restaurant with a poster of Bill Clinton at the entrance that serves tofurky with actual cranberries along with a traditional Chinese hot pot, accompanied by a restaurant-wide singalong over a karaoke mic. (Yes.) I'm thankful for everyone who reads this blog and all my other writing about games and virtual worlds, especially since it's helped lead to my getting to enjoy Beijing sunrises like this. What -- and who -- are you thankful for, in Second Life and beyond?

I'm forever thankful for the kindness of educators, Hamlet. When our island closed after the 2010 tier increase, soon enough a colleague stepped up and let us host our simulation there.

I'm thankful for almost a decade of virtual immersion that has allowed me to express some of my innermost dreams, impulses and ideas.

I'm thankful for all the people online who don't lapse into profanity-laced tirades behind my back over things I've posted.
I'm also thankful for those who do, when I learn about them. It makes me giggle.

I'm thankful for family, virtual and real; I'm thankful for Valve, who have brought Steam to Linux and thereby made Linux gaming a more serious proposition for graphics hardware makers--we're already seeing the benefits in such things as improved graphics drivers for nVidia. I'm thankful for those who build SL clients specifically for 64-bit Linux, and I'm thankful for Qarl Stiefvater and his ongoing work to improve SL.
I'm thankful for the growing number of clothiers who support (no pun intended!) prim/mesh breasts, and those who make prim/mesh breasts and busty mesh avatars.
