Iris Ophelia's ongoing review of gaming and virtual world style
If you're looking for a weekly dose of virtual gorgeousness, I've got your fix today. A couple weeks ago, the team behind popular SL brands Lelutka and Celoe launched a fantasy-inspired collaborative line named Erare Project. With that launch came a mermaid avatar named Syren, complete from hair to fins, and Second Life's ultra-talented fashionista bloggers have been using it to take some truly breathtaking digital masterpieces.
Although I'm in love with this avatar (and have a personal weakness for mermaids) I decided that at this point it would be way more worthwhile to share some of my favorite pieces by other bloggers rather than risk biting their style with a submerged snapshot of my own--so keep reading to see their absolutely amazing work!
The top image is Kira Ahn's take on Syren. It's clean and uncluttered and not over-processed, the pose is perfect and overall it's a pretty ideal example of how to showcase an item artistically without obscuring it.
Grazia Horwitz paired her pic with a dash of mermaid lore and prose, a perfect companion to the ultra-moody image.
Shawneese Offcourse's Syren maid seem sweet but she's also taken a much less SFW pic which, like the one above, features some bold (and quite flattering) lighting.
I have to mention Gogo's take as well, which stands out because of the very bold color choices she made. The Syrens themselves are very colorful, but Gogo's immersed them in even more to make some beautifully saturated scenes.
Sasy Scarborough's work really stands out as well, though it's the complete opposite of Gogo's colorful snaps. Sasy blends the beauty of the mermaid with the threatening look of a creature from the deepest abysses of the ocean; we've all seen those pictures of eerie little monster-like fish lit up in the void, right? Sasy's Syren evokes them beautifully... and without any of the scary needle-like fangs.
Of course the original Erare reveal image done by one of Second Life's absolute best artists (if not the best), Graphic Dix, takes the cake. What can you even say about his work? He's absolutely on of the most talented digital artists out there, and his images never disappoint. Obviously we're no stranger to him here and both Hamlet and I have gushed about his work in the past, but if this is your first time coming across him be sure to check out his utterly stunning Flickr gallery for more!

Lovely, sometimes we forgot how SL can be just amazing!

I tried the demo a few days ago, and I agree it's really beautiful. I do wish there was an option to buy only the tail so you can have more mix and match options, but you can wear only the parts of you really want to wear.
