When we last saw Ole "Mr. Bones" Etzel, everyone's favorite skeleton was singing bluegrass. This time, he's stranded on the arctic sea, and Leonardo DiCaprio is nowhere near to saving him. But hang on, help is on the way, or something:
See many more Mr. Bones episodes here. "The fifth episode of Mr. Bones," Mr. Etzel tells me, tongue-in-skull, "was strongly inspired by a classic of messed up navigation:
"The Titanic catastrophe. On top of that we have this scene with the burning seaman going overboard that perhaps will remind some viewers of the German anti-war movie Das Boot. It seems I am quite obsessed with Das Boot because that was already the main theme in Mr. Bones 4th episode 'Wartime'. In the end it was a long time goal of mine to record really bad weather because in SL the sun shines around 350 days per year... What somehow annoyed me after 6 years inside our beloved virtual world. However, in the end, all turned out as imagined before, so I am happy." I'm not even sure why, but so am I.
By the way, if you haven't heard Mr. Bones sing bluegrass, do yourself a favor and click and watch and listen already:

Titanic?
I see a boat and some ice, but luckily it has nothing to do with the Titanic.
I say luckily, because I generally am not very amused by comedy about a disaster where 1500 people drowned in a horrible way.

I don't see the loss of the Titanic as being down to bad navigation. It was about as close to where it was thought to be as any ship of that era could be. A sextant can be quite precise, but they had to use dead reckoning between position fixes.
They didn't have GPS or even the radio navigation aid that were being deployed thirty years later.
