I asked NWN readers about their most important experience in Second Life over its 10 year history, and fittingly, the first memory comes from Pituca FairChang, who's been a member for that entire decade (and then some, since she joined in Beta):
"The memory that has impacted my life is joining The Americana Group back in Beta and meeting Garth Fairlight (later to become Garth FairChang) there." (That's them at their wedding, at left, which many of their SL friends attended.) "He would later immigrate from London to Southern California to marry me. Tragically his life was cut short by pancreatic cancer. I stay on to keep our 38 regions of FairChang Islands alive and running in his memory."
She adds a PS: "PS. I was a neighbor of Catherine Omega's back in Shipley, and am still a follower of her's on Twitter!" Me too on both counts.
Many more memories here. Add some of your own there, too!

I remember the day I met Garth like it was yesterday. He was off work because of a leg injury, checking out SL to kill some time. Devlin and I showed him a pub build someone had done and something clicked for him. He was logged in all the time, after that. With some people, their real character comes through the avatar, and Garth was like that; you could tell he was the real thing, a very decent person. Pituca is, too. I always loved her nutty sense of humour and spontaneous fun!
Those were magic, golden days. There was always the excitement of something new. We may have had some ugly-assed avatars, but we sure had fun.
