Janine "Iris Ophelia" Hawkins' ongoing review of gaming and virtual world style
If you had told me one year ago that I would be desperately awaiting the second season of a television series about Hannibal Lecter and Will Graham lead by the actor who played Prince Char in the movie adaptation of Ella Enchanted... Who am I kidding, I'd probably believe you. So of course this piece of Sims 3 art that's making the rounds on Tumblr jumped out at me. In addition to being masterfully edited, the sim subjects themselves are uncannily accurate.
Thankfully, creator Akira Yamato included most of the pertinent details on how she pieced this pair together. Most, but not all...
In her original post on Tumblr, Yamato lists the mods and basic components of the sims:
Will——
Hair:JS sims3
Skin:S-club
Lip:S-club
Eyes:蜉蝣Hannibal——
Hair:EA
Skin:E-skin蜉蝣
Lip:Tifa(かも…)
Eyes:KEWAI-DOU
The problem with just about every jaw-dropping celebrity-to-sim transformation is that that specific information only goes so far. The vast majority of the work and the resulting likeness is in careful manipulation of sliders and in some cases sliders that are modded or altered from vanilla settings to allow for features that otherwise wouldn't be possible. It's tricky to show people how to do it for themselves without just offering them the sim as a download... And with all that custom content involved, it can be a pain to get a carefully crafted sim looking quite as good as it does in the creator's hands. And does any of that even matter if I can't find a good cannibalism mod?
This is something I've struggled with when considering if I should release the cast of Sim Downton Abbey for download, but it's also something that The Sims 4 has a chance to handle better. Okay, I'm not exactly holding my breath on that one, but anything could happen.

I honestly can't see how this will be handled better specifically BECAUSE of the way the creators want there custom content shared. They always require you to credit them or link to download from there site. It's near impossible to keep track of all that information. The only way it could be done better is if the sims included a popup panel that gave information about the custom clothing/hair/furniture with a place for a link to a webpage and the name of the creator. Even then I suspect most creators won't be satisfied.
