Janine "Iris Ophelia" Hawkins' ongoing review of gaming and virtual world style
Every now and then it's important to take a break and look at something positive, or even take a look at someone who's just doing something cool for the sake of others. Just because. So in that spirit unburden yourself of all your drama just for a moment while I introduce you to Amala's limited edition necklace, The Nice Gesture.
Limited editions in SL are often strange things accompanied by exorbitant price tags and artificial scarcity. They can be interesting, but they're all too often just an excuse to jack up the price on an ordinary item. That's not the case with this polished enamel pendant by jewelrymaker and photogenic fashionista Crystalny Resident. All that this necklace, limited to 100 pieces, will cost you is a moment of your time.
Nope, none of that. Just your SL name, so that it can be delivered.
If you happen to be one of the first 100 people to submit their name via this form, one of those one hundred pendants is yours (provided you're findable in Second Life's Search, of course).
Of course like many people my reflex is to look straight in that gift horse's mouth. Maybe this is an insidious ruse to get names to add to a spammy advertising robot. Maybe, but I doubt it.
Maybe it's just a rather sweet way to make her brand stand out from the rest. That's far more likely--and it would be damn clever marketing, much better than a free gift set out at the door.
Or maybe, juuuuuust maybe, it is entirely innocent. Maybe it really is just a Nice Gesture. And what's the harm in that?
