Janine "Iris Ophelia" Hawkins' ongoing review of gaming and virtual world style
The sheen of blood-soaked coveralls, the glare off the fogged lenses of a gasmask, the slickness of an improvised weapon: None of these things looked quite right before Materials came along, and thankfully designer Damien Fate is ready to show us what we were missing all this time... With animated gifs.
Damien's Halloween collection from his costume-focussed brand, FATEplay, certainly stands out, but the best part of it all might be the animated gifs he shared via Plurk as he was putting the release together. Keep reading for the gory details.
It's a damn creepy collection, that's for sure, but for whatever reason Typepad's not letting me embed all these gloriously gruesome gifs. Luckily for you (and unluckily for any potential photoshoot victims) you can find the full set on Damien's Plurk.
As much as I love Halloween, these piecesprobably won't make it into my costume of choice, but nevertheless I'm a big fan of Damien's work, and an even bigger fan of his materials comparisons. After all, this isn't his first time demonstrating the differences: In the past he's shown us slick swimswear, gilded gowns, and even answered some common questions about the latest innovation in Second Life fashion.
If you're in the market for some particularly morbid materials-enabled fashion this week, you can pick up Damien's latest release at FATEplay in-world [SLURL] or on the SL Marketplace, or check out all the details on his blog.
