Janine "Iris Ophelia" Hawkins' ongoing review of gaming and virtual world style
If you're already on the lookout for that perfect something to set off your virtual Halloween costume, the you'd be wise to check out the Wizarding Faire, which opened last weekend and will be running until October 20th. The event is hosted at Mischief Managed, a jaw-dropping roleplay sim that's been inspired by the world of Harry Potter, and consequently so are many of the most eyecatching items available.
For example, consider Beetlebones' fabulous frog avatar, pictured above in a rather clever shot by Wolfy Breno...
Of course there's much more than that in store.
Suetabulous' RL sister, Anya Ohmai, also has a few items of her own available. She's been hard at work over the past month, developing four mesh house elves that can ride on your back, or even toddle obediently after you. Personally I'm not sure if I find them cute or creepy, though I can't deny how well-made they are either way. Whether you're the type to free your elf and retain it as a companion, or keep it in and make it carry your books and cauldrons around for you, these would add an interesting detail to a costume. For that matter they would be right at home with a Potter-inspired roleplay avatar, which is what Mischief Managed specializes in (when there aren't any festive fairs to be run).
There's plenty more set out for Wizarding Faire. You can visit the event for yourself in-world, and take a few snapshots of the gorgeous sim while you're there, or check out their blog for more news and information.

I guess these merchants are NOT among the 'majority' that have stopped putting content into SL? :)
