The Silicon Valley Virtual Reality Expo has added current Linden Lab CEO Ebbe Altberg as a conference speaker, SVVR organizer Karl Krantz just told me. (And unless I miss my guess, this will be Altberg's very first public appearance as Linden's CEO.) Appropriately enough, he's joining Linden Lab's founding CEO Philip Rosedale on a panel called "Creating the VR Metaverse".
I will probably be attending SVVR myself, and if you're reading New World Notes, you can get a $100 discount to attend too: Just use the code "NWN2014" when signing up.
By the way, Karl also sent over a good mini-essay on the importance of connecting the SL userbase with what's going on in virtual reality -- not in spite of Facebook's involvement in VR, but because of it. Will post that soon.

SL will need so much work to be successful in VR. I don't know if Lal is prepared for how much they'll need to do to make it successful.
But as the owners of the most successful virtual world bar none, of course they MUST make it a virtual reality world. If they don't, someone else will. And it will be BIG.
