Janine "Iris Ophelia" Hawkins' ongoing review of gaming and virtual world style
Music-inspired Second Life shopping event Rhapsody will be opening it's doors later this month (June 28th to be precise) but there are already some interesting releases coming out of it.
Rhapsody presented creators with 8 different genres of music to use as inspiration, but in the lead-up to opening day event organiser RubyStarlight Writer has been releasing posters in the style of live performance promo art featuring participating creators. Designed by popular SL-based artists Strawberry Singh and Anya Ohmai, these posters are a fairly clever twist on virtual world event publicity by casting designers as DJs, popstars, and all manner of musical celebrities.
If you'd like to see more of these gorgeous collaborative posters be sure to check out RubyStarlight Writer's Flickr stream. Rhapsody will be open from June 28th to July 12th.
Iris Ophelia (@bleatingheart, Janine Hawkins IRL) has been featured in the New York Times, and has spoken about SL-based design at the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan and with pop culture/fashion maven Johanna Blakley.
