Janine "Iris Ophelia" Hawkins' ongoing review of gaming and virtual world style
The Steam Summer Sale, one of the most hyped and celebrated sales events in gaming, is finally in full swing on the popular digital distribution platform. Between the daily deals, flash sales, community's choice picks and all-over discounts, it's a pretty good time of year to thin down your wishlist and snap up a few titles to keep you busy this summer. Even if you don't have your eye on anything in particular, today's deals are all pretty juicy. For example, RPG Maker VX Ace is a great purchase if you've ever wanted to make your own RPG, while Game Dev Tycoon is a good choice if you'd rather just play a game about making your own RPG instead.
So what's at the top of your wishlist for the Steam Summer Sale? A darling indie you're curious to try? A big-budget triple-A title that you've been itching to play since it came out? Even if you don't get what you want from the sale, there's a chance you won't leave empty-handed. Share what game(s) you've got your eye on in the comments below before the end of the sale (June 30th) and I'll randomly draw one lucky commenter to receive a shiny new gift copy of Tomb Raider (yes, the 2013 one) via Steam. Just be sure that the email you use to post your comment works or else, well, it won't!

My list is headed by Transistor and Dark Souls 2!

At the top of my list is that Ibb & Obb or whatever it's called. Just because I'm not gonna pay full price for it. Watch_Dogs is on there just because it seems interesting, and as soon as Mirror's Edge 2 comes out it's immediately taking top on the list.

probably just Betrayer! I've been intrigued by it since I read the first previews, and the game seems to have changed a lot (from empty and mysterious to combat-heavy), but for a sale price I think I have to give it a try.

I've had Starbound sitting at the top of my Steam wishlist for ages, but I'm not expecting that to be in the sale. Instead, I'm crossing my fingers for either Banished or Nuclear Throne!

What is this "Steam" thing? ;-) Ah something for the Windows using PC gamer bourgeoisie I see. (I actually do have the Linux steam client installed) A lot of the stuff that's selling well, I already have on the PS3/PS4, picking them up when they actually came out! X-com, Bioshock's, Walking Dead Season 2, Skyrim Legendary, Don't Starve. The Witcher 2 is something I might like, it didn't get a PS3 release. The next one gets a PS4 release. I'm also planning to pick up Transistor on the PS4 eventually.
PSN is also having a sale, course they always have discounted stuff:

At the top of my wishlist is more time. lots more time to actually play the backlog of games I already bought in steam sales in years past.

I highly recommend The Stanley Parable if you are interested in a non-violent, story driven 1st person perspective choose your own adventure that goes super meta with your every action narrated in the style of Hitchhiker's Guide. It is wonderful.

Gosh golly I love Steam sales. I have my eye on The Darkness II (hoping for dat flash sale!). Too bad Space Engineers doesn't seem to be participating in the sale -- really want that one but was hoping to snag it for more than just 10% off. Yeah I'm cheap, so what. :) Steam ID is Stampfen.
