Janine "Iris Ophelia" Hawkins' ongoing review of gaming and virtual world style
In case you were wondering, in case you somehow fell out of the loop in the interim between now and one of my previous posts about him, Second Life artist Nomak Nyoki continues to be the absolute gold standard for male avatars. His styling? Still flawless. His photography? Beyond compare. His boston terrier? Well that's a new edition, but I love it just the same.
Nomak shared a few new pictures on his Flickr this week, and they're just as stunning as you'd expect -- even more of what has made his face and name a force to be reckoned with in the world of men's fashion in SL, even if he isn't the most prolific artist in the scene. Whether you're looking for a dash of modern style, or you want to motivate yourself towards a head-to-toe male av makeover, his Flickr stream should be your number one source of inspiration.
Iris Ophelia (@bleatingheart, Janine Hawkins IRL) has been featured in the New York Times, and has spoken about SL-based design at the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan and with pop culture/fashion maven Johanna Blakley.
You had to pic an image with that hair style...
I guess I am alone in my sheer annoyance at that whole 'shaved sides tall top' hair style... :)
Not many pics on this bloke's flickr, but it looks like he doesn't have the usual T-Rex arms I see on male avatars. That ALONE is enough to boost him 10-notches on the respect dial... :)

Opinions... everyone has one.
In search of the perfect male avatar. There are just so many factors to take into account when seeking to crown one specimen of physical perfection.
Personally, I tend to be attracted to the male avatars in SL that don't have that obvious "woman's touch" ... which tends to suck the masculinity right out of the pixels.
But that's just me. I don't try to impress or attract women with my SL appearance and I don't look for their approval. It's very liberating to be a gay male in SL and not need anyone to define what you should or shouldn't look like.

All SL humans are in a permanent squint. I'm not a fan... I had to search hard to find the one creator who made a male mesh head who doesn't look royally ticked off 24/7. :X
