"I know some people are very anxious to try their DK2s in Second Life/OpenSim," says CtrlAltStudio's David Rowe, "so I’ve released this Alpha with some very preliminary DK2 support." No Mac version, alas, but if you have a DK2 and you want to check it out on your Windows machine, click here to start downloading.
Which raises the question -- how many NWN readers have a DK2?
If you do and you try this new viewer, please share your experiences in Comments.

Very expensive toy, 350 U.S. $./275€. Sony will soon launch a similar to their game console. Will it be used as Oculus Rift in Second Life?

@Vanadis The current Oculus Rift is aimed at developers rather than consumers. I'd expect the price to be lower when the consumer model finally hits the streets.

I got into the 3d goggles experiment with the eMagin headset 6 years back. It was a terrible disappointment all around for the grand I spent. And since my time inworld is less now since LLs mismanagement has caused my eagerness for SL to wane, I'll let someone else ride the bleeding edge for awhile. I'm still licking my wounds from LL and eMagin both.

I have the DK2 and generally the demos are a joy to test. However I do have a high end AMD graphics card and the LL support for AMD GPU is generally a pain in the neck. There is a not well enough known rule of thumb: Generally a 50$ Nvidia card will perform bettern than a 500$ AMD card with SL. This is reflected in my experience with the DK2. Second Life is the only "demo/game" to create judder when I move my head. A judder so unbearable that I prefer spending my time with other demos (even OpenGL demos) whose develpers have spent at least 5 minutes to make sure that their program does run with both major GPU providers on the market...
