#GamerGate crusades against 1 indie woman but not AAA publishers worth billions hyping $60 crap w/co-opted media. Telling.

#GamerGate is another recent controversy around women in games. Very quick summary: A small group of hardcore gamers are enraged over indie game developer Zoe Quinn for getting favorable coverage on Kotaku, allegedly (but entirely unproven) for corrupt reasons. (Read a summary here and a longer story here.) Since it's largely driven on Twitter, I'll just share my own Tweet on the topic here. More on my account.
Update, 4:50pm: Full conversation from this Tweet here.
This seems like a poor choice of target for those folks.
All other factors aside - anytime any indie gamer gets highlighted positively, folks should rejoice. It makes it that much easier for the next startup game developer to get launched.
This is another example of where - it is impossible to have rational discussion because there is too much crazy-talk coming from both sides for someone who was not 'there' (if there even was a there) to have any idea...
But the people who take it so personal and get so vehement anytime a woman succeeds... need to look in a mirror and ask themselves some very hard questions.
