Janine "Iris Ophelia" Hawkins' ongoing review of gaming and virtual world style
I have a confession: I stayed up until 7 am playing The Sims 4. My feelings? ... They're complicated, and they still need a little more time in the oven.
But I'm not going to leave you empty-handed.
If you haven't had a chance to play the game yourself (and you're sick of watching video content designed with 100% pure uncut marketing in mind) you might want to set aside a slice of your afternoon/evening to watch a Sims 4 streaming mini-marathon that I'll be participating in. As those who follow me on Twitter and Plurk might know, I regularly stream games as part of Stream Friends, which includes a pretty lengthy let's play series for The Sims 3.
The stream will be starting shortly after this post goes up and running well into the evening, so if you want to see The Sims 4 in action swing by and watch for yourself, or check out the archives that will be posted later this week on the StreamFriends YouTube channel.
Janine Hawkins (@bleatingheart on Twitter, Iris Ophelia in Second Life) has been writing about virtual worlds and video games for nearly a decade, and has had her work featured on Paste, Kotaku, Jezebel and The Mary Sue.
I think Sims is one of the world's most beautiful game. There are very few games on the market exclusive to women. Sims fills this space. The characters are very realistic. Fiction is great. You own the world's fictionalizes. Your dreams come true. At the same time, the characters are very sweet. And I love them.
