Janine "Iris Ophelia" Hawkins' ongoing review of gaming and virtual world style
There's something extra stressful about waiting for a highly anticipated game to be released... On a holiday. Every hour you should be relaxing can feel absolutely agonizing when all you're thinking about is playing that damn game. Well I've got good news and even more good news if, like me, you're chewing your nails and watching the clock until The Sims 4 is released.
First of all...
Anyone who has preordered the game through EA's digital distribution platform, Origin, is currently able to download ("preload") the game so that you'll be ready to start playing when the gates open at 12:00 AM Eastern/9:00 PM Pacific.
Second, the game's developers have been streaming hours and hours of live gameplay on their Twitch channel over the past few days, with the most recent stream taking place just a few hours ago. Right off the bat the folks playing show off the skill tables, including a woodworking table that allows sims to build their own furniture. There are easily enough Sims 4 gameplay streams to keep you busy until launch, so be sure to check out their video archives on Twitch.tv.
TweetJanine Hawkins (@bleatingheart on Twitter, Iris Ophelia in Second Life) has been writing about virtual worlds and video games for nearly a decade, and has had her work featured on Paste, Kotaku, Jezebel and The Mary Sue.
