The whole 1.x versus 2.x UI hoohah could have been totally avoided if only LL had decoupled the UI from the rest of the viewer. By now there could have been a wide variety of interfaces to SL.

I think this is going to be especially useful in education and training where the UI can be both confusing and distracting for beginners. I would hope that in due course it could also help those with special needs.
