Bryn Oh's Second Life installation within the larger "Obedience" installation
"Obedience" is a new 15 room art installation by renowned British film director Peter Greenaway and multimedia artist Saskia Boddeke, now being shown at the prestigious Jewish History Museum in Berlin. Inspired by the "Binding of Isaac" story from the Bible, it features a Second Life created by renowned metaverse artists Bryn Oh and Jo Ellsmere, which museum patrons can navigate at dedicated stations running SL (photo above and below).
"I was contacted by Peter and Saskia around five months ago to create a region," Bryn tells me. "I decided to write a modernized version of the traditional narrative with Jo Ellsmere creating the 24 elders who reside in Gods throne room as described by Revelations."
Bryn created a machinima version of the installation, which quite beautiful and eerie:
If you happen to be in Berlin between now and September 15th, stop by to explore. The Jewish Museum is an awesome place to visit in itself, by the way -- designed by architect Daniel Libeskind, it includes the most powerful Holocaust memorials I've ever encountered.
