OK, I've been a bit of a noodge about HoloLens' version of augmented reality, but this is seriously cool:
Unlike a lot of proposed AR/VR use cases, I can totally see this kind of "teleportation" becoming commonplace down the road:
holoportation is a new type of 3D capture technology that allows high quality 3D models of people to be reconstructed, compressed, and transmitted anywhere in the world in real-time. When combined with mixed reality displays such as HoloLens, this technology allows users to see and interact with remote participants in 3D as if they are actually present in their physical space. Communicating and interacting with remote users becomes as natural as face to face communication. [From the video description]
Right off the bat, for long-distance communication with close friends and family (the way we use video Skype now), and for telecommuting which is enhanced by a full 360 degree of the participants. (For instance, showing up an architectural model.)

So did the Scobleizer convince you to come back to the right side of history or did you come to that conclusion on your own? Your previous noodgy memes did make me laugh... because in Augmented reality, you can totally see your cat.

LOL, still not a super booster like Scoble. I compared it to Skype video for a reason -- it's something we definitely use, but generally not on a regular basis. Personally I use Skype Video maybe 4-6 times a year, and that's even with me mostly working from home. My guess is most of us wind up using this about as much...

Yep, it's very cool - hololens really needs to work on it's FoV though, the amount of your vision that can show AR is actually very tiny. Look anything other than directly at the hologram, and it's gone.
