I've been writing about cool, creative uses for in-world projectors lately, now here's a tutorial from someone (OK, he's named Beev Beev) showing you how to use such a projector to simulate reflections in Second Life:
The shadows that you can see here are regular SL sun shadows. The main trick is, you need to reduce and unfocus light, that comes from projector, so then it stops working as a "picture projector" or a "light source" and starts working as a part of SL environment map. Next, you have to set "environment" parameter of some item's specular texture, and together it starts working as expected: reflective surface.
More on Beev's YouTube page here. UPDATE: And see his much more active Flickr page here.
