You might swear these are people underneath elaborate costumes, but they're actually data of motion captured people beneath layers and layers of further code:
Our aim was to showcase the AICP sponsors as various dancing avatars, which playfully reference the visual effects used throughout production. Motion capture, procedural animation and dynamic simulations combine to create a milieu of iconic pop dance moves that become an explosion of colorful fur, feathers, particles and more.

Those are awesome looking! But a lot of those effects are very expensive to render. I think we are still a few years out from game engines being able to render that sort of thing in real time.
The particle effects maybe, and some of the materials Unreal could probably handle, but the really lifelike fur stuff is too computationally intensive to do without letting the machine chug through the rendering over the course of a few hours.
