So remember that Hillary Clinton headquarters in Second Life I told you about earlier this month? The one that had replaced a Trump fan's tribute to the Republican's Florida mansion? On a visit to the Hillary HQ this week, I felt a blobby mass looming over my head behind me, and so slowly turned around. And saw this:
Yes: Trump's Second Life fans may have lost the mansion, but they put up a big billboard for Trump's SL headquarters (with a couple proposing Hillary for prison, for good measure) directly across the street. So now, both Trump and Hillary HQs stand at a literal crossroads:
At a crossroads... like America.
Hilary HQ owner Candace Larganta actually tells me she doesn't mind, and has even dialogued with the "Trumpsters" (as she calls them). "[They're] not really that bad - quite interesting to talk to. However, they did attract a lot of people that were certainly into Trump. They're just a bunch of kids being contrarian, and once we opened dialogue things went fine. As far as their billboards and such, I have no issue with it and always welcome debate and creative lampooning." (Candace adds that her HQ hasn't been attacked by flying swastikas or demons the same way Bernie Sanders' HQ was.)
In fact, she tells me she has more of an issue with another pro-Hillary group who aren't as indulgent as she: "Their outreach is non-existent and their fear of confrontation prevents dialoguing between groups."
And if you're a Hillary fan who doesn't want to see Trump's name standing over you? Candace left a small fairy flitting around the HQ, telling visitors about a private island where you can go to celebrate Hillary without Trump at their periphery:
Yes she does. On the Bay City island of Argos, in fact.

Personally, I like to come to SL to get away from the dismal aspects of RL. Seeing virtual Hillary and Donald is less appealing than role-playing chemotherapy.

Candace's claim that our group's outreach is non-existent is rather amusing. In fact we recently have worked with Second Pride and BOYSTOWN to garner outreach and support of Hillary Clinton in SL with events and dances. We even picked up quite a few new members in the process.
We also recovered quickly from the massive exodus of Candace's alts that flooded our Clinton group earlier. Our group prides in itself with organically gained joinees, and not a bunch of alts to fluff up numbers.
We had issues with Candace before as she tends to go off and do her own thing without coordinating with us. Then she tells us after the fact. Plus with her army of alts and the questionable move of putting a Hillary HQ on the former site of the Trump HQ (which sounds like a Trumpish thing to do), lets just say she has fallen out of our favor. It also didn't help when she decided to link-back an LM to our HQ in Bay City with hers and the only traffic Candace sent our way was JP's Trump trolls. -_-
If Candace has an issue about our group, then I'm sorry, but our philosophies don't mesh well together. We don't open dialog with J.P.'s Trump trolls because in our experience they are there to disrupt, not to exchange ideas like adults. I think it's incredibly naive for Candace to think otherwise. Linden Labs would agree with me as just very recently jp.laszlo and several others from his Trump group were banned for violating SL's Community Standards. A troll is gonna troll and nothing is going to change that.
Despite Candace's claim, the Hillary Clinton 2016 group is quite open. We don't however take a laissez-faire approach to suffer fools like she does. In fact our prime group rule borrows from that old saying: "Never argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience."
Our first lives are much too busy to waste time arguing with Trumpets in Second Life. So our group security policy reflects that.
In any case, have a great Fourth of July weekend and remember:
America Is Already Great!
