Great news to start the week: As of the last hour, the total in Linden Dollar donations that will be converted from Linden Dollars to US$ donations to the victims of the Pulse shooting stand at L$1,053,210 -- that's over $4100 in US dollars, that will soon be sent to the official GoFundMe Pulse Victims Fund for Equality Florida (which as of today, has nearly $6 million total). That amount is almost double from last Thursday, when the total was just below L$600,000. So clearly a lot of SLers donated during the weekend.
One big help was the distribution of donation boards, enabling anyone to collect donations from their land. And Casper Warden, the reputed SL entrepreneur who launched the drive and created the sign, tells me those boards have been going out like crazy:
"409 boards have been 'sold', 626 copies rezzed," Casper told me last week. (The boards can be freely copied.)
One million is a great start, but I'd love to see donations total L$ worth over $10,000. When you think about how many victims of the Pulse shooting there are -- "This includes victims’ families, survivors, and those in the club who may not have suffered physical injury but [are] in need of support," the GoFund Me page notes -- you realize how great the need is. You know we can hit $10K! Click here to make your own donation on the land of Casper, or get a copy of the donation box for your own land here.

Too bad it's a scam.

And 3 days later, the donation has not been posted to the GoFundMe. There have been scams in SL about these fundraising initiatives. I hope that the person behind this will eventually do the right thing. But so far no good.
