The Black List [.pdf here] is an annual compilation of unproduced screenplays currently making the rounds in Hollywood, a third of which finally do get made (an extremely good ratio), while a majority of Best Screenplay Oscars since 2005 go (as Slate reports) to former Black List entries. That in mind, I'm rooting for Free Guy, by Matt Lieberman, to make it to the bigscreen:
A bank teller stuck in his routine discovers he's a background character in a realistic, open world action adventure video game and he is the only one capable of saving the city.
So sort of like Wreck-it-Ralph meets The Matrix. Or if you agree with Elon Musk, a movie based on base reality.
