Highly polished and pretty impressive (and also quite short), Linden Lab just dropped this creator preview for its upcoming platform for social VR platform, Sansar. First take: Lots of platform, not much social.
Interestingly, while it's definitely aimed at the VR industry in general (I won't be surprised if it's showcased at the Consumer Electronic Show this week) it features the guy behind "Loz Hyde", a Second Life content creator. However, very little about avatars or social interaction within the virtual space is depicted -- indeed, we only get a short glimpse of some generic avatars at around 1:09. It still looks more like a consumer friendly version of Unity or another 3D development engine, than an actual VR social world -- something expressed by a developer in the closed beta.
Compare and contrast with this one taken from a conference demo last November (below).
