One of the last SL photos Amona Savira uploaded to her Flickr account before reports of her death emerged
I'm receiving reports that the real life person behind Amona Savira, a master photographer of virtual imagery, has recently died. Serene Footman recently published this obituary for Amona, while Amona's Facebook page is now festooned by SLers posting their condolences.
"She was always very generous," a friend notes, "and kind with her nice comments for the photos of others." I am myself a major admirer of Amona, often featuring her works on New World Notes (as here, and here). She had a unique and exceptional talent for bringing mystery and artistry to Second Life screenshots, often transcending the form. In fact, even if you did not know her, please consider remembering Amona Savira now through her marvelous work.
Indeed, fans and friends are posting remembrances on her very last Flickr photo, including one from seimsnor, who says she's Amona's son:

"Hi everyone. We are deeply saddened by our mother's passing earlier today. She had no chance against the very strong stroke that conquered her wonderful brain. She was the one to teach us how to appreciate all things beautiful - music, aesthetics, arts. We are forever grateful to her and we love her so much. Thanks for all you kind words - we are in tears."
Sad news indeed...

This is the first time I've heard of her. I will be sure to take a look at the art she left behind. Very sorry to hear about her passing. Thanks for the note.
