"Avatars Against Trump" contribution from Muslim-American Second Life user Strawberry Singh
"Avatars Against Trump", as the title suggests, is a new Flickr group open to users of Minecraft, Blocksworld, The Sims, Second Life, High Fidelity, IMVU, Tilt Brush, and any other game/online world/VR platform who want to express their opposition to Trump and his policies in screenshots and machinima. Managed by SL bloggers Cajsa Lilliehook and Strawberry Singh and launched this week, it already has a dozen images -- go here to see them all, and if you're interested in contributing your own image or video, go here for guidelines.
Among the first submissions is this one above from Ms. Singh, a Muslim-American in real life who's experienced first-hand the rising hate provoked by Trump and his anti-American supporters, and accompanies her image with a short but passionate poem:
For over a year I watched the vitriol.
For the past two months I felt the hate.
In the last week I lost much hope.
Today I was told to wait for change.
But instead of waiting, I will fight.
I will fight for justice and negate the hatred.
I am American.
I’m here to stay.
And every patriotic American is glad for that.
Very glad to see that. Did not realize the person behind that blog was politically motivated. My own fault there - I'd not paid enough attention to what I just saw as a fashion blog.
My respect for her has gone up a lot on seeing this.
