After noticing some user experience similarities between Linden Lab's Sansar (at least from what we know so far) and Blue Mars, the now-defunct virtual world from 6-7 years back, I went through old screenshots of the Blue Mars blog I helped put together as a consultant, along with NWN veteran Iris Ophelia. Maybe it's just me, but looking at them and the avatars in the Sansar teaser definitely gives me a sense of deja blue. (See what I did there?)
Sansar avatars above -- compare and contrast with some Blue Mars avatars below:
Again, could just be my bias, but they seem pretty interchangeable -- sorta replicant-like and plasticine, while also seeming both multi-racial/post-racial and generic? Can't quite put my finger on it.
Perhaps some of the Blue Mars graphics team were hired by LL?

The Sansar avatars look like soulless zombies. Maybe they are intentionally bad to encourage people to buy stuff from creators, much like SL today.
