Click here if you have a virtual home in Second Life and you're interested in having it photographed by acclaimed metaverse artist Whiskey Monday, whose new project, CTRL-SHIFT-H, seeks to depict the real life within a virtual home:
In addition to my own homes, I’ve been fascinated with other SL homes. From space stations to underwater grottos, tiny cabins to huge castles, furry warrens to a mixture of all of these- there are as many styles of homes as there are styles of residents. And while we may all be shopping from the same creator’s marketplace, each home in SL is one-of-a-kind and a direct reflection of the resident who built it.
As you might have guessed, the photos on the site announcement are from Whiskey's own virtual home, and they say something about the person behind the virtual home owner:
"I'd say my home is a reflection of my personality: scrappy, pieced together, completely modified, and unpretentious," as she puts it. "For me, it's about the small things, the knick knacks, the quiet corners. I find safety and comfort in smaller spaces, so I'm drawn to those in-world as well." Same goes for the digital ocean view: "I'm happiest on the water, and SL water is mesmerizing! I park my avi there while I work in RL. It's relaxing."
I love this project, it is a great idea and Whiskey is for me one of the best photographers in SL ever. So the result is really good. Thank you for telling us Wagner!
