Popular SL vlogger Lexy Nexen recently made an in-person tour of a Second Life store selling hot male and female bots you can "date" by the hour, and yes by date I mean they come equipped for virtual sex or perhaps even better, you can also take them out dancing and even shopping, and are supposedly connected to a server which imbues them with enough artificial intelligence to chat with you and respond to the renter's behavior and I'm both astounded and impressed and also feel a touch sad and depressed by the state of humanity but here it is and there you go.
Click here to visit the store yourself, but caveat emptor, or whatever the Latin word for "horny perv" is.
Can you sit in his lap and talk about how lonely and depressing the world is?

I'm both surprised and not surprised. Those of us that haven't had our heads stuck in the sand have been expecting the slow advance of chatbots to the point where you can't tell a difference in human or bot. But to see it implemented in SL is a bit of a surprise to me. The next step in their evolution will be to follow you from app to app. Or possibly from OS to OS. Anticipate literally seeing Cortana greet you in avatar form on your Android phone, give you the day's itenerary on your iPad, then assume where Clippy failed in helping you with your docs in Office on your PC. And after your day is over, she becomes your dinner date in your VR headset by digital candlelight. Good times. Gotta love mixed reality.

Sex, sex, sex. It drives people and VR. A human condition.

Sex has always driven technology. If it weren't for the backend credit card payment technology for porn sites, the commercial Web may have been much slower evolution

Are they really bots or "real" avatars pretending to be bots? I wasn't sure after testing: https://apmel.blogspot.se/2017/05/apmelina-tests-renting-npc-with-ai-in-sl.html
