Speaking of risky flights over the Uncanny Valley, watch Doob (the company, not the joint) turn professional cosplayer Ashlen into an ultarealistic avatar ready for magic and gathering in an MMO. In other words, a real world woman who makes a living dressing up as a virtual world avatar has now herself been turned into a virtual world avatar so she can cosplay as herself -- and that one day, other people might cosplay as her too. (If you know what I mean and I think you do.)
We are far from HiFi's original vision of avatars seeming more like Pixar characters, but that's the topic of another post.
