Go here to download a free copy of Sinespace for PC, Mac or Linux just in time to join a huge Summer Festival happening this weekend that's hosted by the developers of this Unity 3D-based virtual world created by Second Life pioneers (a proud media partner to New World Notes!). Sinespace is also unveiling a new Welcome Area with greeters and tutorials to get users comfortable with the world and their new avatars, before going off to explore and join the festival fun.
I just got a short tour of the new Sinespace with lead developer Adam Frisby, who've I known since early SL days as Adam Zaius. "We're excited to show off what we've been up to for the past few months while we've been in open beta," he tells me. "some of the content our creator community has come up with has been nothing short of amazing." (Here's the Flickr pool to see some of that.)
Here's the Festival event schedule with live DJs and performers, games, quests, desert car racing, world tours with staff, etc. Getting started is pretty easy:
Outside Sinespace Summer music venue Guitarhalla with Adam. Yes that's an early version of Hamlet in Sinespace. Full white suit coming soon!
Download and run the Sinespace client here, and then create a new account name. Once logged in you'll go to the Welcome Area to get oriented. In addition to the Festival, click Explore to check out regions with clubs, museums, games, RPGs, cities, space stations, and more -- like a recreation of the Grand Canyon that literally takes 6 hours to walk across.
As always, post questions for the Sinespace team in Comments below!
I look forward to seeing a few new (and old) faces this weekend!
We're officially kicking off at 17:00 UTC on Saturday (someone'll have to convert that to PST for me, I'm useless at timezones...), and will be launching the new welcome center and summer festival areas at that time, so login and join us for the unveiling then. :)
If you're interested in checking our space - we'll also be doing regular tours of what our creator community has been up to, feel free to tag along - we're doing those every 2 hours from 19:00 UTC onwards. :)
Finally, we've got three contests running;
If you don't have an account - you can register and login from the viewer itself (or login as a guest) - there's a bunch of content creation contests going on as well.
