Victor1st reminds us in this stately montage that it's the 10 year anniversary of New Babbage, the legendary steampunk city of Second Life. To compare and contrast, here's what NB looked like in 2008, in a machinima by Loki Elliott that's among my very favorites:
From first glance very little has changed to the city itself, though I wonder if its prim-based constructions are difficult to update alongside new mesh builds.
I discovered New Babbage just over a year ago: it is a stunning achievement in so many respects, not least of which is its completeness. I created a machinima myself there - not quite so whizzy and you can see my frame-rate is struggling in places (it was pre my graphics card upgrade), but I think it conveys the atmosphere of this wonderful collection of sims.

It's not just the videos about New Babbage that are so enthralling. The community there has produced three volumes of short stories about the city - which you can buy on Amazon, in addition to producing writers whose stories build on New Babbage like Lori Holuta and Maxwell Grantly.
And the city itself weaves the most fantastic tales and legends which they play, write, expand and film through their website: http://cityofnewbabbage.com/reader/
